What's nanotechnology?

The nanotechnology is the capacity to manipulate the atoms and molecules. one nanometer is the same as 10-9, in other words: 1 billionth of a meter, this new technology represents a break of paradigms, or (considered by many) the 5ª industrial revolution. The nanotechnology will be present in every area of the human knowledge, and its progress will be incorporated universally in every sector : economic, social and environmental.

LUX Research (one of the main U.S consultancy specialized in nanotechnology), said that the global market of "nano" products will reach in 2015 approximately US$ 3.1 trillions.

In 2004, Forbes Magazine (USA) did a survey with 500 largest business groups in the world and published that 100% said they are researching, developing or already incorporating nanotechnology in their products.
In 2005, the search was expanded and included the 1000 world's largest groups, the result was the same: 100%.

Currently, more than 1.500 products made using nanotechnology are available to be used and beyond hundreds of other B2B products.

Among of sectors that already use nanotechnologies, the following stand out:
Textiles, plastics, electrical electronics, cosmetics, packaging, auto parts, sensors, solar energy, batteries, food, medication, special ceramics, coatings and surface treatments, laboratory equipment, and others.
